Wiley's Remediation Technologies Handbook: Major Contaminant Chemicals and Chemical Groups "Wiley's Remediation Technologies Handbook: Major Contaminant Chemicals and Chemical Groups, extracted from the Enviroglobe database, consists of 368 chemicals and chemical groups. This book lists in alphabetical order these chemical and chemical groups along with the numerous technologies, many of which are patented, or trademarked techniques, to remediate them. A short description of each of these technologies is provided along with appropriate references. "Wiley's Remediation Technologies Handbook: Major Contaminant Chemicals and Chemical Groups: Covers the most important chemical and chemical groups that are found to pollute the environment, and the ways to remediate them.Gives succinct abstract describing the numerous technologies used to clean-up a wide range of pollutants.Provides the uses and limitations of each technique.
Functional Group Chemistry by James R. Hanson, Functional Group Chemistry presents the chemistry of functional groups with an emphasis on patterns of reactivity, the consequences of the relative electronegativity of the atoms that constitute functional groups, the role of lone pairs and the stereochemistry of reactions at a particular group. The material is presented in four chapters. The first chapter describes some of the general principles that affect the reactivity of functional groups. The second chapter examines the chemistry of functional groups involving (sigma)- C-X bonds as in alkyl halides, alcohols, ethers, amines and organometallic reagents. The third chapter covers the chemistry of both symmetrical and unsymmetrical (pi)-bonded functional groups, typified by alkenes and carbonyl groups. The final chapter concentrates on aromatic compounds. It is concerned with the interactions between an aromatic ring and functional groups that are attached to it, such as their effect on the orientation of aromatic substitution. Each chapter concludes with a series of problems. The chemistry of the functional groups is considered here with a mechanistic rationale.Students are encouraged to consider the reactivity of functional groups in terms of their regions of electron deficiency and excess, and hence to identify the sites at which nucleophiles and electrophiles might react.
Acacia Technologies - Acacia Techologies is used loosely to refer to Acacia Research Corporation and its subsidiary Acacia Media Technologies. The company specializes in acquiring and enforcing patents. Future Technologies Advisory Group - The Future Technologies Advisory Group is an organization whose purpose is to deliberate and raise awareness of scientific advancement and emerging technologies. Further, the organization ostensibly works to predict their societal effects. Royal Group Technologies - Royal Group Technologies is a large Canadian building supplies maker and plastics company. Based in Woodbridge, Ontario it also has operations in much of Latin America and in Poland and China. Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group - The Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG) is a working group for developing new technologies designed to allow authors to write and deploy web applications more easily by extending the existing technologies. This is in contrast with the vendor-neutral World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) headed by Tim Berners-Lee, as the working group is vendor-driven, with the greatest contributors being Mozilla Foundation, Opera Software and Apple Computer.
